Brief Description

General Description:

This position serves as the designated Safety Specialist for the company. In this role, you will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety excellence by promoting safe work behaviors, ensuring regulatory compliance, and inspiring strong safety commitment across all personnel and operational levels.

Night Shift : 6:30 pm – 3:15am

Responsibilities:

Program Development, Compliance & Reporting

  • Implement, and maintain company safety policies and procedures to ensure full OSHA compliance across all operations.
  • Maintain the OSHA 300 log, track incident records, and complete annual State of Georgia “Right to Know” reporting.
  • Build and maintain Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for all site jobs and facilities.

Site Inspections & Equipment Maintenance

  • Inspect work sites to verify that working conditions align with OSHA standards and internal company policies.
  • Inspect safety devices, emergency exit lighting, and safety apparatuses for proper operation and compliance.
  • Conduct monthly and annual maintenance checks for all site fire extinguishers.

Training & Employee Engagement

  • Deliver initial safety onboarding for new hires and conduct ongoing follow-up training.
  • Facilitate monthly safety crew meetings and develop relevant safety toolbox talk topics.
  • Coordinate Safety Committee operations, including preparing agendas, distributing meeting minutes, and managing required documentation.

Incident Investigation & Response

  • Lead all accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, providing corrective action recommendations to management.

General Support

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Safety Department management.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of dedicated experience in accident prevention and site safety inspection.
  • Education: Associate degree or above from an accredited college or technical school (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Certifications & Credentials: Valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification or an Occupational Nursing degree.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Environmental Exposures: Frequent exposure to outdoor weather elements and high noise levels, particularly during facility expansion and construction phases.
  • Hazardous Materials: Periodic exposure to hazardous conditions and materials when managing hazardous waste (Hazmat) accumulation and disposal processes.
  • Physical Demands & Work Schedule: Capability to stand and walk for extended periods across site facilities, with the flexibility to adapt to changing shift schedules and operational requirements.
